Emergency Medicine

Mission:

  • To serve the society with the highest level of emergency healthcare and best patient experience in an integrated education and research setting.

Location:

  • Ground Floor- West entrance.

Hours of Operation:

  • We are open 24/7 – 365 days a year.

Scope:

  • We provide initial assessment and stabilization to all patients (adults and pediatrics) who present with any Medical and/or Surgical emergency.
  • Perform emergency procedures
  • Consult inpatient services for admission and continued care.
  • We may transfer patients if needed services are not available in our facility.

Clients:

  • Serve eligible patients, employees, and eligible dependents.

Triage:

  • Triage means “sorting out”
  • When patients come to the Emergency Department for care, we first assess the severity of their condition and the urgency of intervention.
  • We see patients based on the severity of illness and not on first come first base concept. So it is possible that someone may come after you but will be served before everyone else just because the medical condition required immediate attention to save a life, limb, or sight.

Diagnostic Workup:

  • Our staff try their best to find a cause for your medical complaint. This may require laboratory investigations and or radiological tests.
  • However, some diagnostic tests may need more time and are performed in an outpatient setting. We would refer our patients to primary services or the most appropriate service for continued care.
  • We may even contact you after you have been discharged in case additional tests are required or you need to return to the Emergency Department.

Staff:

  • Our nursing staff are registered nurses and come from Saudi Arabia and various other countries across the world.
  • Our ED is staffed by Adult and Pediatric Emergency Medicine Consultants.
  • ALL our physicians are Board Certified, licensed by SCHS, and credentialed by the Hospital Credentials Committee.
  • Our staff maintain the required continuing medical education hours and participate as speakers during various local and international conferences.
  • Our physicians are ACLS, PALS, ATLS, and other similar life support courses certified providers or instructors.
  • When you visit our Department, rest assured that you are in competent hands.

Ambulance Services:

  • Our ambulance staff include an EMT-Paramedic, EMT-Basic, and a Driver. They strive to reach your area of Emergency within 10 minutes and render pre-hospital emergency care.
  • They can be dispatched by calling the MCD 44080 directly or through the Hospital operators- 19999.

Paramedics respond to the emergencies in the Admin Building, Hospital Housing and outside the Main Hospital Building.
